I think every year there should be an option go to either up one year, or down a year. Then people could find their maturity level and hover there. (I think 24 will go well for you. It was a good year for me. That was when I got my bamboo hut!)
You know how Dwarf ladies also have beards? Occasionally fanart will come across my dash of lady Dwarves with their majestic beards and it's really kinda fabulous. (I seem to be developing a love of beards lately, thanks to my return to Middle-Earth. Our school is doing a beard contest at the end of February and my main reaction was "oooh, fanservice!" I don't even find any of them attractive, I just like the thought of all the beards.)
